There’s been a huge pre-release buzz humming about MTV/Harmonix’s Rock Band Video Game, the latest entry into the genre of music/rhythm gaming. Word on the street is that, due to its limited availability from the manufacturer, it is probably going to be one of those “same day sellouts” all gamers dread. Enough of the sad news…
In addition to having some of the best action movements to be found, Rock Band game comes jam-packed with more incredible features than any other game of this type. For starters, you can create your own logo and then create your own character. From there, you can develop individual avatars that can play each of the instruments.
The Rock Band video game comes in different versions that will run on all three of the major gaming systems: PS2, PS3 and Xbox360. It lets you play either individually or there can be up to four people who can play each of the musical instruments included: lead guitar, bass guitar, drums or lead vocals. What’s even more awesome is that you can all play simultaneously, as part of the same band!
Each instrument has been tweaked so that it will challenge any player into performing better and better. The guitars each come with ten frets. Just think of all the rifts you can do with those! The first five are standard but the last five you have to work for: they’re reserved for when you qualify for a solo performance. Both the vocal and drum parts come with peripheral hardware (these are wireless for only PS2 AND PS3; there is a USB port hook-up for the Xbox360): a microphone that helps the built in phoneme detector store letters as you say them (build up enough common phrases and the game allows you to sing free-style!) and a wild drum set up. This section has four different colored pads (one for each type of drum) and a kick pedal that hooks up to the drum’s bass unit.
Each Rock Band video game comes standard with the Rock Band video game, one guitar plus a microphone and drum kit. Rock Band also comes pre-loaded with Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” to help you along the way to your very own Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
